Pitch Feedback

Lots and lots of things to write about.
I presented my two pitch ideas (I have not said but the second idea was looking at 'Text in Architecture' - I'll somehow add the presentation onto this blog) to Kim and Jamie who gave me a lot of things to think about:
  • My contextual knowledge is good - awesome, even - so now I need to start working on the practical application of this knowledge.
  • They liked the idea of Postmodernism but also thought that I could bring some aspects of Text into it since - in Kim's words - "Postmodernism is just taking different aspects of different things".
  • I need to start working with different 3D materials e.g. foam board, spot-welding with copper, wood, card, paper, plaster...
  • I need to speak with Bill before the holidays about getting a crash course in spot-welding.  I'll do that tomorrow when I go in for the whole day.
  • I need to experiment and be brave with trying new things - look at different lighting techniques, different scales, different textures, what material works best for what....
  • Keep adding stuff to my blog and journal.
  • They liked my little notebook pages of words (you guys will know what I'm talking about but here is a photo of an example) and said that I could even use it for this idea - projecting the words onto a sculpture or something.

  • They said that it was good to keep my final idea vague so it can still be an installation or a sculptural piece or even something on the computer
  • Jamie said he'd arrange for me to speak with the architect of the UCBC and the Beacon Centre D: COOL!!!!!
  • I can't remember anything else but I shall keep adding to this list when I remember.  In future I think it would be a good idea to take notes in my journal because that's what it's for!
Total pitch time: 7-10 minutes
Total discussion time: 20 minutes
