As I wrote in an earlier post, I have been working on making this shape more user-friendly because if it was a building, I think it would be confusing, off-putting and very impractical:
I ended up with three ideas on how to alter the pincer-like element. When I was done designing, I made the models.
- Idea One (getting rid of the pincer completely):
- Idea Two (making the pincer jut out):
- Idea Three (making the pincer parallel with the other one):
The design ideas on each one varied. The first and third had gaps because I was going to hold them up with wire (acting as metal pillars). In the case of the first one, it worked; I didn't attempt it for the third one because the idea still needs work (namely, using copper wire because it is straighter). For one, I added a silver sheet to represent a metal wall; for the same one, I added a wall with words on it, specifically the Victoria and Albert definition of 'postmodernism'. I also used my photoshop cutout photos as decoration (see next post). After I was done, I stacked them up to put them away and really liked how weird it looked:
I'm going to run the idea past Kim and if she likes it, I'd like to make it for my FMP (tweaking will obviously be needed).
