Exhibiton preperation

We've been working on preparing the exhibiton space this week.  The boards were assembled, prepared and painted by Wednesday afternoon:

I was given my space yesterday morning:

It's right at the very end of the exhibiton space and though the area is smaller, my section seems big enough.  The plinth that will cover the sink won't be arriving until Monday - just as well since I haven't finished my final piece.  I spent some time yesterday analysing my space:

The measurements are not completely accurate but they have given me a general idea as to how I can arrange the space.  An A1 piece measures approximately 84cm by 59cm.  This means that the five portrait sheets that I have total up to 2.95m - very tight on the wall space, even without my two landscape pieces.  If I add the length of the landscape pieces, I will need a total length of 4.63 metres.

In my sketchbook, I tried working out various ways in which I could arrange all seven of my A1 pieces.  However, even if I took out one of the pieces, I still didn't have enough wall space.  Rather than scarificing any more work, I spoke to Jo about using the screen adjacent to the sink.  One screen measures about a metre in length.  If I put both of my landscape pieces on that, I would be able to put my four portrait pieces on the main wall (a length of 2.36m so there will be ample room to spread them out, factoring in what the model will be sitting in front of).

Jo said I was allowed to use the screen, providing I didn't mark it with anything.  At first I thought I could use blutac.  However, when I finally got hold of some and tested it out, the glossy quality of the screen prevented the blutac from sticking properely and subsequently, the A1 sheet kept on falling down.  My only other option is using sticky fixers.  Jo said that I would be responsible for removing them after the exhibition is over which I think is reasonable.  Reading the properties of the sticky fixers and assessing the properties of the screen, I think that I will be able to remove the fixers from the screen quite easily, because it is glossy.  I tested one out and it came off quite easily although this is hardly the same as leaving it on for two weeks.  Still, I am confident enough that they won't damage the screen and shall hopefully arrange my work onto the walls on Monday.
